(tt)   Looking down Collins from Spring at the block the locals have always called "The Paris End"

Certainly got a touch of the posh

This sixties glass  tower had a gay bar on the tenth floor  in the seventies. Very covert and exciting at the time.

(tt) The old Metro has been spruced up and called The Palace but it doesn't show movies anymore.

The stately Windsor Hotel, a proud lady of the gold rush days.

on a Melbourne tram

(tt)  Was testing my camera on the tram. These are the latest. They are warm and/or cool but they have little character. The only rattlers left now are on the tourist circle.

peter pan house

His house on Nicholson St Fitzroy has always fascinated me. It has gotten a bit run down over the years. I always saw it as brightly whitewashed in the past. I think it's still a boarding house.

port melbourne

(tt) Look  I have my own transport line

Sheldon and I were last down here before we left for London, But I have been here before. 52 years ago in fact.

My family walked through these gates on Christmas Eve 1959 after a six week sea voyage on the S.S. Fairsea... the Sitmar line that brought us all the way from Southampton to start a new life. I remember a burly stevedore on the wharf who provided my first words from a native Australian, "Get out the way, yer little Pommy bastard" !!!

When last Sheldon and I were here this was a posh cafe for pooches and their owners. No more. All locked up. Another trendy floperoo.

The Port Melbourne terminus for the light rail.
