Sheldonless I wandered the lonely streets of Manha........SCRATCH OF RECORD NEEDLE. What bullshit. I had an ordinary day of shopping. Yoga Toes to stretch my horrible feet. Spirulina capsules and cedar hangers for the moths. On the way to the various emporia I took a few.
This is a bit of detailing on a nightclub building called Webster Hall which we pass on the way to the post office in E11th. Looking up its history I find it was built in 1886 and was the first real nightspot of NYC. It hosted diverse events such as a speaking venue for Emma Goldman, the anarchist, who features as a character in Doctorow's "Ragtime" and then lavish galas for the elite of the town. It has been a recording venue and cast albums like "Hello Dolly" and "Fiddler" were laid down there. Julie Andrews,Harry Belafonte,Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Elvis and Sinatra all recorded in the studio.
When you pass it at night on a weekend night there is a line out front for live music and dancing.

Just got past the hall when this vision walked by. I am not rude enough yet to point the camera into peoples' front sides so I wait til they have moved on
She had a blue face-sized see-through visor on. Faaaaabulous dwarling
And this is the Loew's local on 3rd where I saw a 5.15 screening of
...which is pretty silly but wonderfully filmed (with Hungary being subbed for Scotland) Miraculously the two heroes manage to kill all their enemies, their wounds heal in a trice and they walk off into the sunny forum ready to fight another day. The creators are historically game. It was fascinating to see the armadillo phalanx in action. The Celts were too stupid to lop the Romans off at the ankles. And (spoiler alert! If planning to see this film STOP READING NOW...)
they kill 2 children! Now before you go on..remember all those Hollywood disaster films where there were always the kids left at the end and sometimes even the dog? Well kids do die in wars so... crrrrrrrrrgghhhhccrrrrrr (that was a throat cut sfx)
But ultimately it's a nonsense with lots of Irish jigs and thunderous sound effects. I do like Jamie Bell very much. Channing Tatum is horrible to look at. 6/10
