the other place at a great place

These are shots of our journey to the Lucille Lortel Theatre to see Laurie Metcalf in "The Other Place" by Sharr White. More of that later.

Here is the famous 21 Club which of course was featured in "All About Eve" in the scene where Celeste Holm comes to meet Bette Davis but ends up facing the wonderfully evil Anne Baxter and the slithery George Sanders.

Now we are in the West Village
A new child care centre

And we have arrived at the thartar...the Lucille Lortel on Christopher Street, which started life as the Theatre de Lys.
to see

Excellent performances from the entire cast in a harrowing play in which a brilliant scientist (Metcalf) suffers signs of early onset dementia.

And now the posters which are all over the theatre. During the 50s the Theatre De Lys production of THREEPENNY OPERA starring Lotte Lenya (and, amongst others, Jerry Orbach, Bea Arthur, Ed Asner, John Astin, Carole Cook, Jane Connell and Charlotte Rae) was the longest running Off-Broadway show until its record was broken by THE FANTASTICKS.
A painting of the original production. Notice the band on the floor at the right. Lenya is centre stage wearing the green blouse.

And now we walk home praying that dementia is not in our eventual demises

These are 'good for you' Easter eggs!   Ha Ha. Apparently not genetically modified.

Guard dogs are getting very pompous these days.

And lastly, a doorway to die for
