Walter Burley Griffin, the architect who designed Canberra's layout and central buidlings, also gave Melbourne the wonderful Capitol Theatre. In the 70's some idiots gutted the main auditorium, created a smaller cinema and saved the fabulous cubist-inspired ceiling which can be lit in kaleidoscopic splendour. It is rarely seen now. I spotted some details in the entrance off Swanston.
