Great to see our boy Will Swenson sizzling up City Center in the new rock musical MURDER BALLAD, a compact 80 minute through-sung tale of sex, love and betrayal with book & lyrics by Julia Jordan and music & lyrics by Juliana Nash.
Rebecca Naomi Jones is the narrator of this Frankie-and-Johnny-like tale of Tom and Sara who begin a torrid affair at Tom's Lower East Side bar. When things cool down and they drift apart, Sara marries good guy Michael and raises a child on the Upper West Side. But soon old passions stir themselves and...as in most murder ballads...things end badly!!
John Ellison Conlee plays Michael and we saw Karen Olivo's understudy Nicole Lewis as Sara. All were terrific, the show looked great and they've already extended the run until just before Christmas.
