The proceeds went to the Preservation Society. Here are some photos of my day there and and back.

The tour started here at the Greenwich House Music School in Barrow St. You got a map and made your way at your own speed and took in the houses in any order.
A lovely tree in the backyard

The PATH train station entrance on Christopher
This house at 179 Christopher St was the first and certainly the finest of the houses I visited.
The design leans heavily on the Gaudi House in Barcelona. Unfortunately photography was prohibited. The use of glass bricks three quarters of the way up the maple walls means light is spread through the whole home. The bathroom contains a sunken bathing pool in grey granite and a mosaic tree hides the plumbing.
The art collection included a wonderful piece by Kehinde Wiley and I think this was it
All attempts at finding photos of the interior on the web failed
Here is the beautiful old warehouse next door
On to the next and my next favourite
Corner of Christopher and Washington
A cleaners!
The doorway where the gentleman volunteer is sitting leads through a passageway into a garden court where the little house belonging to Alice Carey lives. She was the only owner who greeted every visitor and offered sherry and bickies. The house was full of treasures, toys, books and food. Being another fan of the Dennis Severs house in London she left the house looking like someone had just stepped out.... down to a pot of marmalade and the Irish Times on the kitchen table and a real cat!
Her little house is to the left and behind her the communal court which had once been a tip! This was a place that Eileen and her sister could have lived. Alice is a true artist and a special soul.
Third house on W12th. Very fine but not my cup of very rich tea! Silvers, greys, blacks and hell to keep clean!
On Hudson
Back on Christopher. I had just passed Laurie Metcalf on the way to her last matinee. Her rather sombre visage meant our second possible encounter was not meant to be!!!!
The fourth open house was an office conversion for a design firm. Designed to within an inch. The statue of the lion was in the window
Upstairs was via a separate entrance and was the living area of a gentleman who loves horse jumping and tailored suits! Very GQ. Not a thing out of place.
House 5 was on Morton St and I did not like the feeling in there at all. It was full of fine furniture and objets. There was a wonderful new Gropius-inspired kitchen add on which looked out on a stunning back garden but home comfort wasn't the impression I got so I hightailed it outta there.
Some genius has re-issued these classic bags from the golden age of flying. The shop is on Bleeker.
Cafe on Cornelia
Here is my third fave. On W 10th
The lobby which served the upper apartments was swathed in what looked like vintage William Morris wallpaper, dark woods and embossed brass fittings. The one floor apartment was full of unique collectibles like moose heads and toys with rooms painted in rich reds and greens. The owner collects barbed wire and he has mounted a selection behind glass in beautiful but sinister rows. Much love in this abode.
Across the road this masterpiece.
Here is the last.
Looking through the entrance to the back of the house I saw a man dressed out of Upstairs Downstairs. Head butlerish or best man at The Royal Wedding. My spirit failed me and I went on home.
The sign is wonderful
THANKS SHELDON !!!!!
p.s.Our little home has a few treasures too
This is almost still life. The Queen's hand waves when you turn the lamp on. The orchid is waiting to be killed with kindness!
