Terrence McNally Tribute
Lamond and I (tt) were privileged to sit in the fifth row of the Longacre to be part of the audience for a benefit honouring Mr McNally's magnificent career. Written and presented by John Doyle it was introduced by Angela Lansbury, oozing class despite having dragged herself from her sick bed. A feast of songs, anecdotes and excerpts from his work were presented by the following artistes
Highlights were Roger Rees and Jason Danieley doing songs from "Man of No Importance" with Stephen Flaherty accompanying; Raul Esparza singing Where You Are from "Kiss of the Spider Woman"; John Glover in scenes from "Lisbon Traviata" and" Love, Valour Compassion"; Marin Mazzie and Brian Stokes Mitchell re-living "Ragtime" and Joyce DiDonato rocking the joint with a Rigoletto aria from "The Lady of the Lake". The love for Mr McNally was palpable.
