Opening Night!

We're finally open! The reviews have been wonderful so far and the general opinion is that this may well be the best version of the show to date. My sincere thanks to those who kindly sent cards and flowers! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•
with Robert Grubb (Bob), David Harris (Tick) and Euan Doidge (Adam)
We also did a photo shoot for DNA magazine. Here are some outtakes...

  2. You almost look like a blonde Rebecca Caine in that last image. Love the slightly tweaked Young Bernadette costume - works really well. Like the slightly longer “Earth mother” MacArthur Park costume too - looks great. Are you still wearing the corset/undergarment as you don’t look as curvy in that photo? Has Bernadette had her boobs reduced maybe? And to think she spent all that money on them ;)

    1. Probably because I'm wearing costumes built for other actors in previous companies. Not as flattering!

    2. Yes I did wonder that - I guess your Broadway costumes got altered and used for the other productions also? The original Aus costumes I think were vastly improved on for Broadway but I do miss the original I Love The Nightlife white dress in a way. I really like how the longer cut on the “earth mother” white desert costume looks on you though - the Toronto one was interesting if a bit tight across the bust, and the Broadway one you looked stunning in but this one is really nice in its own right. The other Aus original I miss is that finale version of the same with the hair up in a cloth band and the long floor length shirt/coat over it. Very much fits with the movie I guess. It’s a shame images of the original production are so hard to find - i’d LOVE to see an “evolution of Bernadette” montage of your costumes and wigs from each iteration of each scene around be world. Once the show hit Broadway, I think the costumes suddenly clicked in a way - for me at least - so I’m glad they have not changed them since really. I did see the Greek production videos I think it was where it was the Broadway designs but clearly manufactured on a budget - not as many layers in the dark blue bar scene dress etc - and I was worried your costumes in this revival might have been like that so I’m really relieved lol!! I’d also love to see all the costumes that never even made it - cut in previews and so on. Stage costume tells the story so much more than in movies that go for ultra realism - I find myself watching shows twice as a rule as first time I watch the costumes and the sets and miss bits of dialogue. Any costume quick changes or magic and I will be trying to work out how it was done before the show is over. Witches of Eastwick tennis ball trick I’ve still never fathomed - foam one gets trapped in the book, but I could never see (London) where the real ball was hidden - I’d assumed on the book against her body but it’s not there. I’ve still got the last ball from the London production signed by Rosie. That show was amazing wardrobe-wise too. The Aus version had some lovely revisions but I never got to see it.
I hope they film Priscilla one day for DVD like they did with Love Never Dies - so many amazing productions in Aus - really smart direction and innovative sets and recording them at least means the rest of us can enjoy them :)
      Keep up the amazing work!
