This is the view from the moving car of the famous Hanging Rock from which a group of schoolgirls were said to have disappeared on a Valentine's Day picnic in the late 19th Century. Peter Weir directed a wonderful film based on the Joan Lindsay novel which in fact was the source of the unstoppable legend

Experiments

(tt)   My teech was in Melbourne to see "Grey Gardens" and then on to Hobart for a farewell to some Antarctic explorers!  She kindly took me through the uses of telescopic and macroscopic lenses whci she had bought me. Thank God I hadn't opened the boxes before hand. She assembled the equipment so all I have to do is baten them in place. We will see if I remember that bit. Anyway here are a few of my first attempts to capture stuff with the new mount.

Soon I will be looking hard up close at boils, ingrown hairs and toe jam.

Are We All Lit?

The tree at Rockerfeller Center was last night

(tt) I met the divine Miss Deidre Rubenstein for tea at four and we decided that the trad Melbourne rendezvous spot had to be used this once before heading to Degraves St for a caffeine fix.

I watched the world as I waited

And admired the detail outside

A lost lane

(tt) Now the site of the driveway to the Westin Hotel this Chanel shop was James Hilliers exclusive chocolates.

This was a lovely little alley running to Flinders Lane filled with frock, book and antique shops. Tim the Toyman was here too.

The Plaza was a fantastically decorated cinema which played host to Cinerama for a while. It was said thet the carpets got worn out by would be racing drivers when they screened "Grand Prix".   I saw Cinerama Adventures and got sick.
