The Divine Charles Busch

THE DIVINE SISTER
A NEW COMEDY
WRITTEN BY & STARRING CHARLES BUSCH
DIRECTED BY CARL ANDRESS

One of our favourite writer/performers ever, we were privileged to catch an early preview of Busch's crazy new comedy, a pastiche of every movie you've ever seen featuring nuns. Channelling Rosalind Russell in THE TROUBLE WITH ANGELS, Mr. Busch is the Mother Superior (with a flashback to her early days as a crack girl reporter in the '40s allowing Busch to channel Roz in THE FRONT PAGE). Julie Halston is the Mary Wickes-like nun who also coaches wrestling and wrestles with her own sexual hysteria leading to a BLACK NARCISSUS moment where she is discovered in a sequinned dress and smeared lipstick. Every one of the six cast members nailed the style and tone perfectly. Long may it run!
