Susan van Cott and I saw Grey Gardens! Well we saw it in the sort of the way that The Edies’ neighbours would have..without the stink of cats. The new owners have been brilliant in maintaining a wild almost unkempt hedge of mixed vegetation in homage to the amazing Bouvier ladies so one's imagination of their famous past is not compromised at all. It also stops the gawkers like us. The beach shot (Little Edie would have basked on the dunes to the left) is through a windscreen because getting out of a car in the Hamptons carries the death penalty.
