Mirrorball on 34th St

6 a.m. Thanksgiving Day on Broadway and all is quiet
Except for David our stage manager taking inventory on the PRISCILLA bus
Jeff Metzler looks chic even at this hour
While Staci gets an early start on her makeup
Gavin photographs me photgraphing him.
We arrive at Macy's and before we've even found our trailer to start putting on our makeup we're informed that dress rehearsal will begin in TEN MINUTES. Thom Allison has gone into shock.
I am already made up so couldn't give a rat's arse.
Some of the NEWSIES cast do a ballet barre warm up in the street.
While Steve Schepis finds our trailer a tad claustrophobic.
The NEWSIES are called to perform!
While Keala the Koala is left to shiver on the sidewalk.
J. Elaine is enchanted by skyscrapers in the morning light.
Soon we are in a holding pattern inside Macy's

Somehow Patrick Page, the archvillain from SPIDERMAN, appears in our midst
He is easily absorbed into our troupe.
And there it is, the entrance to 34th St.
The nuns from SISTER ACT return from their appearance and give us their blessing.
And we brave the bitterly cold morning to be met by a cheering crowd.
And we're off!!!!

I think it went well. I hurried home to get some rest before tonight's show, only pausing once to look back...
See ya!

  2. Life in all its diversity. The war dead on one side and the joy of being alive on Broadway on the other.
