Neue Gallery

A wonderful exhibition of German post cards is on at the Neue Gallery on Fifth Ave.

Here are some of the artists represented:    Josef Divetsky

Emil Hoppe

Maria Kikarz

Moris Jung

The museum has one of the iconic Klimt paintings. The subject is Adele Bloch-Bauer and up close the textures of gold and yellow and grey and white are spliferous (popular German word).

On either side stand two sculptures by Minne. All three of the pieces stood in the home of the Bloch-Bauers and were seized by the Nazis and disappeared. When finally recovered the family sued the Austrian government for their return and won.

There were loads of works by Egon Schiele and the ones below were there on the walls.

So many young  men in New York look like this today...

N'est-ce pas..?
.

We were not allowed to film inside so I downloaded this.
