Nose pressed against

What could be more tragic and pathetic than discovering a wonderful exhibition of celebrity portraits the DAY AFTER IT CLOSED??
Editta Sherman's portraits from 1940-1990 were hidden in this closed up gallery and all I could do was squint through the windows. So near and yet...
Al Hirschfeld and Tyrone Power sneered at my despair
Fernando Lamas and a lady I don't recognise showed a faint glimmer of compassion
But Ray Bolger couldn't have cared less. And Julie Harris laughed in my face.

A walk along Amsterdam revealed these tableaux in a dry cleaner's window
