From the Canon's Mouth

SO here is the first ( well not quite the first..that was of my foot amid some Hobnob crumbs on the rug) picture taken on the new baby. I have no idea what I am doing and I haven't even looked at the CD instruction book so I may well blow it up. I feel a bit sad for the little Sanyo. But that will be good to keep to sneak into Broadway shows and take photos of the standing ovations.

  1. Tony,
    Some tips

One of the best things to do with that camera is to take shots in Auto first then in play back hit the display button until you reach a screen that tells you the ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture. This is a really good way to see what the camera did which is a great starting point.

In picture taking mode the Func/set button is the one where you can play with the colour, size etc..

TV mode is the Shutter speed mode and you can also change ISO in there as well as the above

AV mode is your aperture where you can also change the ISO as well as the above.

The P setting is your personal setting so i usually program this to something I use a lot like my sepia shots with a shortened shutter speed and higher ISO.

The M Setting is manual ... you know like the old days n stuff with f stops etc.. This is a good area to play around with the settings as its not an area youll use a lot in the beginning so if you muck things up in thre it doesnt matter.

In auto mode is you press the func/set button and scroll down to where the sizes are ... a big hint with these cameras if you want to blow things up for the wall or scroll in and blow up then you should leave your setting on L for large. These do take up more space on the memory card but these days who cares!

White balance is great but dont go near it until you get used to the camera a bit.

    Hope this helps ...
