All Hail The Queen

While we were in London we were lucky enough to see the fabulous Lesli Margherita in ZORRO. I sent her a fan letter, to which she replied, and flowers when she won the Olivier Award, but then she headed back to her home in L.A. before we had the chance to actually meet. I followed her career on the net and rejoiced in her California stage successes in DAMN YANKEES, ROCKY HORROR and KISS ME, KATE. Now she's made it to the East Coast and is playing Julie in SHOWBOAT at the Goodspeed Opera House, but when we visited Connecticut and were given a tour of the theatre a few weeks ago, all I could do was leave a message saying we were hot on her trail! Well, last night we saw her fabulous, hilarious cabaret act ALL HAIL THE QUEEN at the Comedy Club on 46th St (not quite Broadway or Off-Broadway, as she pointed out, but Broadway adjacent) and were able to meet the lady face to face. And she's coming to PRISCILLA on Monday. YAY!
With a company of three boy dancers, two girl singers, a hot 5 piece band and the inestimable assistance of her gorgeous and talented musical director Brett Ryback (with whom she starred in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), Queen Lesli is the most egotistical of performers (her opening number is "It's Reigning Me") but deservedly so as it seems there is nothing she can't do.
The delicious Mr. Ryback
I sincerely hope we see a great deal more of this superbly talented artist now that she has made her "Broadway adjacent" debut.
