Karrin Allyson

I have one album by jazz singer Karrin Allyson..IMAGINA; Songs of Brasil...but TT had never heard her so I took him to the late show at Birdland where Ms Allyson is currently performing with Bruce Barth on piano & rhodes, Ed Howard on bass and Todd Strait on drums.  Here is an audio clip of a Jobim song for your delectation.
Tonight's programme included "A Lot of Livin' To Do", "Everything Must Change" (with Allyson accompanying herself on piano), "Loads of Love" (from NO STRINGS), "Double Rainbow" (my fave), "Sophisticated Lady" and "Once He Kissed Me". Perfect of pitch and with a distinctive bell-clear tone, she had us beaming from start to finish.
Two views looking east along 44th as tt was waiting for Sheldon coming from work

  1. Karrin Allyson is amazing.....and I hope you both have a chance to see Stacey Kent next week at Birdland too...another very talented singer and you'll love her show!

  2. Ahh TT. Remember the night we went to see all those guitarists at Birdland and the waitress insulted me? Such happy memories.
