An old Baby

(tt)    Sheldy sent me to a concert performance of this 1983 Maltby and Shire musical which ran on Broadway for..wait for it...nine months!
There were over 60 performers in the concert. So many that one half of the cast sat onstage for Act One and the other for Act Two. Because there are only six leading roles in the show different stars sang the roles for each number.
Here is the finale
Todd Graff and Liz Callaway, who  hosted, narrated, told great stories and watched the proceedings with great warmth and nostalgia. They played the youngest couple Lizzie and Danny in 1983.

Nancy Anderson, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Paolo Montalban, Wesley Taylor
Julia Murney, Wesley Taylor & Malcolm Gets
Kecia Lewis Evans who gave THE standout performance of the evening with her version of "Patterns"..a song cut in previews.
The concert was a benefit for The Transport Group Theatre Company. Their productions of HELLO AGAIN and QUEEN OF THE MIST, both wonderfully staged by artistic director Jack Cummings III, were highlights of last year. Here's some video of the evening below.

  1. Looking at that video makes me think that any rumours of the death of the Broadway musical are exaggerated.
