Big Al

Finally caught up with the gorgeous Alex Lewis this evening. A few years back I directed a production of JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL... with the second year students at WAAPA and it was a joyous experience, so it is with great pride that I watch those kids carving such wonderful careers for themselves around the world. Alex is currently part of the Lindemann Young Artists Development Programme at the Metropolitan Opera under the musical direction of James Levine and is being coached by the likes of Kiri Te Kanawa, Renata Scotto and Thomas Allen. He opens on Tuesday night in the lead role of THE BARTERED BRIDE for three performances at The Juilliard School. And his brother Ben Lewis (another BREL alumni) will be playing the Phantom in the Australian production of LOVE NEVER DIES this year. My heart is full.
