Walk to see a Witch

We walked from home to 46th St to see The Red Bull Theatre's production of  'The Witch of Edmonton", a Jacobean thriller.
Here are some snaps of the journey on a quite balmy and very sunny day. The snow is almost gone but we are assured of much more to come.

Gramercy Park is the only remaining private park in the city. I guess all the residents of all the apartments hold a key.

Here's the statue of  Edwin Booth in the centre of the park. His house which we visited (now The Players) faces the statue.

This is the oldest of the apartments on the square, one of the first apartment blocks in New York.

 What about this entrance?

A lovely facade

Even the birds have mansions
A statue nestled in a corner

Sheldon liked this building best, although he might change the curtains when he moves in...

We passed a tile shop or was it a fashion house? All the clothes are made completely of tile.

Here's a modern miracle play of wire and mylar

This beautiful man was sitting on a hydrant on 9th Ave

Here is the banner for the theatre on 46th St

The centre of the set was filled with dirt. It was a really interesting Jacobean piece inspired by a true case of a suspected witch who was suspected of consorting with the devil in the form of a talking dog. The play was first produced in 1621, the same year the real woman, Elizabeth Sawyer, was condemned to death. A terrific production, and if you've been wondering what Charlayne Woodard and Andre de Shields have been doing since they jitterbugged around the stage in AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' back in 1978, they're crawling around in the dirt in THE WITCH OF EDMONTON.

After the witch was burned and the roue hanged and the hell dog sent to London we walked through the theatre district in the blue twilight

Times Square is always changing and always spectacular

And here's the Palace in the midst of all that sparkle
