Today we met a Morfosis

Mary Zimmerman's adaption of Ovid's METAMORPHOSES had a very successful run at NYC's Circle in the Square almost ten years ago. The Melbourne Theatre Company had a crack at it a few years later but now an adventurous director/designer named Dino Dimitriadis (those bloody Irish are everywhere!) has created a beautiful production for a short run at the PACT theatre at Erskineville.
With the brilliantly creative use of lighting, props, smoke and mirrors and a lot of water, Dimitriadis and his talented and attractive company bring to life the myths of Midas, Orpheus & Euridyce, Phaeton et al with a lot of laughs, a few tears and several goosebumps.

So remember, the next time you walk past two trees with their branches entwined, they might be an elderly married couple granted eternal life by the Gods. Or something like that.
