whereby the complete novel of F.Scott Fitzgerald's, 'The Great Gatsby', was narrated/enacted by the same company that rendered "The Sun Also Rises" last year.
In this adventure every word of the novel is spoken either as narration by the lynch pin, Scott Shepherd,
who was charismatically the centre of the event.
Set in a believably working office, and due to a computer malfunction, the central character finds a copy of the novel in his desk tray/magic box and with wait time on his hands commences to read aloud. Gradually the rest of the workers are drawn into the story and eventually the world of the book takes them all over. Parties are thrown, chaos ebbs and flows.
Time stands still and words bathe you like warm rain.
As with their last show sound effects are an intrinsic part of the experience, all created from a desk in the office by Ben Williams..who also does a mean shower of magic with a set of cards.
There are longuers..especially when other actors take the narrative reins, but ultimately you wander out into the night as if you had woken from an amazing dream.
